Swap N Hop Reveal

This is the Third annual Swap N Hop the brainchild of  Linda Anderson.  We submit our names earlier in the year and Linda matches us up with a partner.  You each send to your partner a focal and a clasp and some beads.  This is what I sent my partner Rachelle Walker.

I sent her a light lavender focal by bead artist Debbie Hull and a fold over magnetic clasp and some various beads in green and purple

a close up of the focal.  Can't quite get the colors right in the photo.

Here is what Rachelle sent me:  Some beautiful handmade beads, chocolate brown beads some green gemstone beads and a fabulous hand made focal.
A close up of the focal...The colors are beautiful with this purple, orange, blue and green wavy pattern down the length.

A great textured antique copper clasp

 some copper bead caps

And some handmade beads

Here is the final necklace.  I used some amber ice chip beads and some bright orange beads from my stash, and incorporated tri-color chain. I only used a few of the gemstone green beads and then added the chocolate brown faceted beads.

and then the two final pieces I made.

The bracelet: I used one of Rachelle's handmade beads, the green gemstone beads and the chocolate brown beads with a great copper clasp I have been dying to use.  Then I made simple earrings using the tri-color chain and the orange beads.

Hope you like what I did with these great components.

Bead Soup Blog Party- Hoarders Edition

The day has finally arrived!  This year's Bead Soup Blog Party has an interesting feature in that you send your partner a Bead or focal that you have treasured and held onto for awhile.

My partner assigned by Lori Anderson was Gail Poveda .  Gail is participating for the very first time in the swap.  Gail is a spanish teacher of K-8.  She started beading about 10 years ago and then started taking jewelry classes to spark her creative interest.  Her true love is enameling.  She made the most beautiful enamel charms that she sent me.  She made these about three years ago and couldn't figure out what to do with them.  As soon as I saw them I knew what I wanted to do.  I hope I did her charms proud!

Here are the charms:

I originally was going to wire wrap this lovely copper neck piece from Kathleen Hamilton but it over shadowed her beautiful texture on the copper piece so instead I took chains as well as some red lampwork beads and made components with the charms, chain and jump rings.

I love how the necklace wears because it has movement because of the chain and the dangles are not too long but I think adds interest.

Here is a close up of the left side and you can see the texture on the focal and the detail on the charms

Here is the right side of the necklace and you can tell the different texture and the different designs of the charms.

Here is the close up of the red lampwork beads.

Finally the cute earrings also made with two of the charms and copper components by Kathleen.
Love this set and I know I will wear it often.

I am late posting my design because I was out of town my sister passed away.  I hope you will enjoy visiting all the other blogs below. ( This year some designs are on Pinterest)

Bead Peeps Swap N Hop

Sorry for the delay but I fell and I seem to have fractured my tailbone!  What fun....Anyway I will be participating in this Hop and hope you will join me.  I have my partners package ready to send out but if I need to change it up for their preferences I will.  I love all things glass.  I love almost all colors the more colorful the better.  I especially love all blues and purples.  I work a lot in fused glass but I love to try different things. If you scroll through my blog you will see different hops and contests I have participated in.  Lately I have worked in seed beads and glass.  I will post later in the week all the dates for the two new things I am participating in.  I just can't sit at a computer right now.

Beads Of Courage Art Charm Swap!

I love being a jewelry designer that contributes to charitable events I participate every year in "Flood the Streets with Art" which takes place on Black Friday, I also join several blog hops and then sell my creations and give to local charities. One of my very favorite is the Art Charm Swap which once a year is hosted by Jen Cameron

This is how it all begins. Designers sign up to create an Art Charm. We are placed into groups of ten. Each designer makes 11 charms to swap with each member in the group of ten. The eleventh charm is kept by Jen and she auctions it off for Beads Of Courage.

What do you do with the charm? Well you can make a bracelet or a necklace or tie them to your cell phone! Each charm is a work of art! Beads Of Courage is a wonderful organization that gives away beads (made by glass artists) to children suffering from life threatening illnesses to celebrate milestones they reach in their journey to wellness. Go to their site to see all the wonderful things this organization does.

The auction will be any day now as soon as we fix a small glitch. I will let you know the exact date so stay tuned. You can bid on any of these charms to help the children. All proceeds go to Beads of Courage as all artists donated their beautiful charms for this event and Jen donates all her time to running the Swap and the Auction.. Did I tell you the theme is Fairy Tales!

Here are my charms. I hand wrapped each piece and added a handmade glass bead to the top of each charm.  I donated 20 charms and used three different designs

These are all the other designers.  Just go to each one and see what they made and deside which ones you would like to have and start the bidding!
